Abstract
In January 2023 Kendari City experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 6.54 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.93. The highest yoy inflation occurred in Kotabaru of 7.78 percent with a CPI of 119.97 and the lowest occurred in Sorong of 3.23 percent with a CPI of 112.02.Inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in most of the expenditure group indices, namely: the transportation group by 20.72 percent; the education group by 9.11 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 6.75 percent; equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group of 5.41 percent; personal care and other services group of 4.92 percent; the group providing food and drink/restaurants by 4.00 percent; the food, beverage and tobacco group by 3.72 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 3.04 percent; the health group by 1.95 percent; and the clothing and footwear group by 1.71 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index was the information, communication and financial services group by 0.14 percent.The month to month (mtm) deflation rate for January 2023 is 0.23 percent and the year to date (ytd) deflation rate for January 2023 is 0.23 percent.Commodities contributing to yoy inflation include air transportation, gasoline, household fuel, inner-city transportation, rice, cars, academies/universities, filter clove cigarettes, cooking oil, and elementary schools.Commodities that contributed to the yoy deflation included anchovies, flying fish/enggol fish, cakalang fish/fish scales, cayenne pepper, rambe fish, spinach, red chilies, kelor leaves, headscarves/headscarves, and young papaya.
