Abstract
In March 2023 Kendari City experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 6.91 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 116.14. The highest yoy inflation occurred in Tual at 7.49 percent with a CPI of 117.19 and the lowest occurred in Merauke at 3.17 percent with a CPI of 112.59.Inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in most of the expenditure group indices, namely: the transportation group by 21.41 percent; the education group by 9.11 percent; the food, beverage and tobacco group by 5.67 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 5.07 percent; equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance group of 4.90 percent; personal care and other services group of 4.21 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 3.29 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 2.03 percent; the group providing food and drink/restaurants by 1.74 percent; and the health group by 1.62 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index was the information, communication and financial services group by 0.17 percent.The March 2023 month to month (mtm) inflation rate was 0.67 percent and the March 2023 year to date (ytd) deflation rate was 0.05 percent.Commodities contributing to yoy inflation include air transportation, gasoline, rice, inner-city transportation, household fuel, filter clove cigarettes, academies/universities, cooking oil, cars, and mackerel/bloated fish/banyan fish/gembolo fish /aso-aso fish.Commodities that contributed to the yoy deflation included anchovies, spinach, cakalang fish/fish scales, moringa leaves, purebred chicken meat, flying fish/enggol fish, young papaya, headscarves/headscarves, rambe fish, and cell phones.
