Abstract

Southeast Sulawesi with all its natural resource potential has opportunities in foreign trade which are reflected in export statistics. Export Statistics Data is obtained from the Goods Export Notification Document (PEB) from Customs and Excise. Commodities that have been Southeast Sulawesi's mainstay include iron and steel and various marine products, while export destination countries are spread across the continents of Asia to America.

Southeast Sulawesi's export value in September 2023 reached US$367.92 million or a decrease of 7.30 percent compared to exports in August 2023 which was recorded at US$396.89 million. Meanwhile, the export volume in September 2023 was recorded at 188.13 thousand tonnes, down 24.06 percent compared to the export volume in August 2023 which was recorded at 247.75 thousand tonnes.

The biggest decline in Southeast Sulawesi exports in September 2023 occurred in iron and steel commodities worth US$84.90 million (down 21.65 percent) where in August 2023 it was US$392.08 million, decreasing to US$307.19 million in September 2023.

The import value of Southeast Sulawesi in September 2023 reached US$87.94 million, down 31.85 percent compared to August 2023 or down 45.18 percent compared to September 2022.

The import volume in September 2023 was worth 159.60 thousand tons, down 66.93 percent compared to August 2023 or down 50.03 percent compared to September 2023.

The largest increase in imports of goods in September 2023 compared to August 2023 was mechanical machines/aircraft worth US$14.46 million (up 287.34 percent).
