Abstract

In May 2022 there was inflation of 1.22 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 111.68. Of the 90 CPI cities, 87 cities experienced inflation and 3 cities experienced deflation, the highest inflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan at 2.24 percent with a CPI of 116.00 and the lowest inflation was recorded in Gunungsitoli and Tangerang at 0.05 percent with a CPI of 110 each. ,63 and 109.73.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the price index in the transportation group by 3.51 percent; food, beverage and tobacco group 2.00 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group 0.48 percent; household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group 0.13 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group 0.12 percent and the information, communication and financial services group 0.01 percent. The groups that experienced deflation were the personal care and other services group at 0.12 percent and the clothing and footwear group at 0.05 percent, while the health group; recreation, sports, and cultural groups as well as educational groups did not experience changes/relatively stable.
The inflation rate for the calendar year (January-May) 2022 is 3.53 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2022 to May 2021) is 4.96 percent.
Commodities contributing to inflation include air transportation, mackerel/bloated fish, scad fish/benggol fish, selar fish/tude fish, cooking oil, skipjack/scale fish, cars, broiler eggs, anchovies and live chickens.
Commodities that contributed to deflation included cayenne pepper, bananas, gold jewelry, online 4-wheeled vehicle tariffs, squid, powder/liquid detergent soap, mustard greens, mukena, red chili and rambe fish.
