Abstract

Southeast Sulawesi with all the natural resource potential has opportunities in foreign trade which is reflected in export statistics. Export Statistics Data is obtained from Goods Export Notification Documents (PEB) from Customs and Excise. Commodities that have been the mainstay of Southeast Sulawesi include iron and steel as well as various marine products, while export destination countries are spread across the continent of Asia to America.
Southeast Sulawesi's export value in February 2023 reached US$340.36 million, down 7.85 percent compared to January 2023 exports which were recorded at US$369.37 million. Meanwhile, the export volume in February 2023 was recorded at 159.94 thousand tons, down by 2.84 percent compared to the export volume in January 2023 which was recorded at 164.62 thousand tons.
The biggest decrease in Southeast Sulawesi exports in February 2023 occurred in Iron and Steel commodities worth US$30.43 million (down 8.27 percent), where in January it was US$367.76 million, down to US$337.33 million in February.
Southeast Sulawesi's import value in February 2023 reached US$152.24 million, down 38.92 percent compared to January 2023 or up 104.15 percent compared to February 2022.
The import volume for February 2023 was 292.99 thousand tons, down 55.15 percent compared to January 2023 or up 692.09 percent compared to February 2022.
The largest increase in imports of goods categories in February 2023 compared to January 2023 was Electrical Machinery/Equipment, amounting to US$5.85 million (up 1,004.24 percent).
The three largest suppliers of imported goods during February 2023 were China worth US$78.13 million (down 52.32 percent), Singapore worth US$36.19 million (down 29.70 percent) and South Africa worth US$20.74 million.
